Rafiki – John Kani
Likewise seen in Civil War is John Kani, who will be voicing everyone’s favourite mad monkey Rafiki. Everybody now: “Asante sana Squash banana, wewe nugu mimi hapana!”
Timon & Pumbaa – Billy Eichner & Seth Rogen
Comedians Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner will be stepping into the iconic roles of Timon and Pumbaa for The Lion King reboot, taking over from Nathan Lane and Ernie Saballa.
Rumoured:
Nala – Beyonce
Though it has yet to be officially confirmed, it has been heavily rumoured that Beyonce will be joining the movie as Nala, Simba’s childhood friend and love interest. You can bet that if the international megastar nabs the role Nala will have a much bigger part to play than in the original version.
Scar – Chiwetel Ejiofor
Likewise, reports not officially confirmed state that Doctor Strange‘s Chiwetel Ejiofor will be replacing Jeremy Irons as Simba’s evil uncle Scar. Previously, Hugh Jackman was rumoured to be taking the role, but this has since been proven false.
On a side note, if Ejiofor does nab the role, he will be the fourth MCU actor on the cast list. That’s not a surprise when you consider that Jon Favreau is one of Marvel’s prominent directors.
