We now know what form this year’s four-way Arrowverse crossover will take… and the announcement comes with an awesome mock comic book cover!
Following from last year’s ‘Heroes vs Aliens’, TV Line has revealed that Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow will next unite in a four-part storyline titled ‘Crisis on Earth-X.’
Here’s the official synopsis:
“With all of the heroes in town to celebrate Barry and Iris’s wedding, villains from Earth-X crash the festivities with a deadly agenda.”
Arrowverse fans should recognise Earth-X from what we know about Freedom Fighters: The Ray, the upcoming webseries set in the same continuity. In the first trailer for the series, The Ray and his underground team of heroes fought the totalitarian rulers of his Earth – the evil doppelgangers of Green Arrow, Flash and Supergirl! Yes, it looks like our heroes will face down their own villainous counterparts in this crossover. And at Barry and Iris’ wedding, no less! Talk about crashing the party…
And just to give us a taste of what is to come, comic book artist Phil Jimenez has created this mock comic book cover featuring all the heroes taking part in the big event. Check out the awesome piece of art below:
Exec producers Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg had this to say:
“We conceived this year’s crossover to be evocative of the annual Justice League/Justice Society crossovers we grew up with and looked forward to as kids. Phil was the perfect choice to bring the comic book cover iteration of this idea to life. You can count on one hand the number of artists who could compellingly represent so many characters in a single image. Phil is one of them. And his design invokes the cover of Justice League #207, which was the 20th Annual JLA/JSA crossover. Our ten-year-old selves are in heaven.”
‘Crisis on Earth-X’ will play out over two nights. Arrow and Supergirl air on Monday November 27th, with The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow following on Tuesday 28th.
