Disney are reportedly buying 20th Century Fox – meaning the whole of the Marvel universe will be in one place…
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought in a wide range of fan favourite characters – recent additions including Spider-Man and Black Panther – Marvel lovers are always lamenting the fact that the X-Men and Fantastic Four are not part of the MCU. The problem is that 20th Century Fox own the movie rights to these characters.
Well, Disney – who own Marvel Studios – might have just found a way around this: they’re going to buy Fox as well. According to a new report, The Walt Disney company is looking to purchase most of 20th Century Fox – specifically, it’s entertainment divisions, excluding news and sports. If this carries out, this will be the latest of Disney’s high-profile acquisitions. Apart from Marvel, the House of Mouse recently bought Lucasfilm. i.e. the Star Wars franchise.
Obviously, at this stage, there is nothing to say that Disney are looking to blend the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Avengers universes together, but it stands to reason that this is at least part of the end goal. What this would mean for Fox’s ongoing X-Men universe – which has actually been going from strength to strength lately – is unknown.
