7. Lie To Me
Buffy’s old friend turns up in Sunnydale… with some dark intentions. A thematically-strong episode that represents the darker, more mature turn of the series. Love that ending. 8.5/10
8. The Dark Age
A very important character development episode, as we learn all about Giles’ tearaway teen past. A turning point in the parental relationship between Buffy and her watcher. 8/10
9. What’s My Line (Part One)
This is the first of a two-parter, so it naturally doesn’t have too much oomph on its own. That said, the dialogue is – as ever -sparkling and it ends on a great cliffhanger. 7.5/10
10. What’s My Line (Part Two)
A good episode with some fun sparring between the two Slayers. Also notable for some sweet/hilarious Oz/Willow and Xander/Cordy stuff. Kendra’s varying accent is just distracting. 8/10
11. Ted
Joyce’s new boyfriend turns out to be a domineering control freak in this episode that gets pretty dark in an unusually domestic way for this show. 8/10
12. Bad Eggs
A totally forgettable episode with not one – the cheap-looking Bezoar – but two rubbish villains – those awful vampire cowboys. On the plus side, there’s some fun Xander/Cordy stuff. 6/10
