13 Surprise
Buffy’s tries to celebrate her birthday while Dru plans her own party – that will bring about the apocalypse. Terrific episode, with an ending that will change the face of the show. 8.5/10
14. Innocence
What a show-stopper this one is! Every character gets some great stuff to work with, but best of all is David Boreanaz acting it out of the park as the evil Angel (later known as Angelus). 9.5/10
15. Phases
The second episode in a row which basically has a “men are animals” message. Nonetheless, as a big Oz fan, I can’t help but love this one. It was about time Buffy tackled werewolves. 9/10
16. Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered
Xander casts a love spell for Cordelia that makes every woman in Sunnydale fall in love with him. A hilarious antidote to the darkness of the other eps. The best Xander-centric hour. 9.5/10
17. Passion
The darkest episode of the show yet as Angel proves just how evil he is by – spoiler alert – taking out one of the main cast. Hugely shocking and moving. Gellar, Boreanaz and Head are amazing. 8.5/10
18. Killed By Death
Buffy finds a Death-like demon killing kids while in hospital with the flu in this enjoyable season one throwback. Der Kinderstod is one of the creepier Buffy monsters. 8/10
