The latest movie in the works over at DC is a standalone film for Deathstroke…
Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, True Blood) was previously announced to be playing the character in the DCEU last year, with Slade Wilson lined up at the time to be the main villain of The Batman. However, a change of plans led to Manganiello’s role in the movie being cast into doubt.
However, it now appears that DC have decided to repurpose the character as the lead in his solo film. A director is already attached to Deathstoke – namely, Gareth Evans (The Raid).
In case you’re not familiar with the character, Deathstroke (the Terminator) is one of DC’s most popular villains. A mercenary who has enhanced strength, agility, durability and speed thanks to an experimental serum, Slade Wilson was initially the nemesis of the Teen Titans but has since grown to become an antagonist for the likes of Batman and Green Arrow.
Manu Bennett plays the role on TV’s Arrow. The character has also been voiced in animation by the likes of Hellboy‘s Ron Perlman, Wentworth Miller (Legends of Tomorrow) and Robin Atkin Downes (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice).
