Metropolis: Superman Prequel Starring Lois Lane And Lex Luthor On The Way

Move over Krypton, sayonara Smallville – there’s yet another Superman prequel on the way…

Following Titans and Young Justice: Outsiders, DC have ordered another show to air on their upcoming digital streaming service… Metropolis, featuring Lois Lane and Lex Luthor investigating bizarre incidents before the arrival of the Man of Steel.

Variety broke the news, and gave this brief synopsis of the show:

“Metropolis”– is set in the famous comic book city before the arrival of Superman. It will follow Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets.”

Interestingly, Variety reveals that Metropolis was initially developed by Fox as a companion show to Gotham, the Batman prequel. It will continue to be exec produced, though, by Gotham‘s John Stephens and Danny Cannon.

DC have ordered a 13-episode debut season which will go in front of the cameras later this year, ahead of a 2019 release date.

So what do we make of this news, guys? Personally, while we have probably had enough Superman prequels by now, I love the idea of a kind of DC version of The X-Files starring Lois and Lex. The Lex Files, if you like.
