The Defenders (Netflix, 2016)

Status: One-off mini-series
Seasons/Episodes: 1 (8 episodes)
The Defenders should have been the ultimate Marvel TV show in the way that the Avengers movies are for the big screen. It goes to show that what works in one medium doesn’t necessarily work for another as the miniseries – while fan-pleasing – felt like an awkward merging of four different series with an underwhelming central narrative.
Cloak & Dagger (Freeform, 2018 -)

Status: renewed
Seasons/Episodes: 1 (10 episodes)
The most recent new TV addition to the MCU, Cloak & Dagger is a teen-oriented outing that manages to avoid the cliches associated with young adult dramas and instead is smart and socially-conscious with a strong setting in New Orleans. Sometimes the show bites off more than it can chew, though, leaving the first season feeling somewhat undeveloped.
Runaways (Hulu, 2017 -)

Status: Renewed
Seasons/Episodes: 1 (10 episodes)
Runways, in my humble opinion, is one of Marvel’s finest comics of the century so I have conflicting feelings about the recent TV adaptation which cuts out some of the invention of Brian K. Vaughn’s comics and replaces it with a slightly meandering narrative about a creepy cult. That said, the young cast is talented and season two looks to be closer to the comics.
