First Look at the New Power Rangers

It’s Morphin’ time! Here’s our first look at the rebooted Power Rangers. What do you think? 

The new movie version featuring the teenagers with attitude is coming next year. It stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason (Red Ranger),  Naomi Scott as Kimberly (Pink Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy (Blue Ranger), Becky G as Trini (Yellow Ranger) and Ludi Lin as Zack (Black Ranger). Elizabeth Banks, meanwhile, is playing the Rangers’ nemesis Rita Repulsa. Fans will also be wondering if other PR mainstays like Zordon, Alpha and Tommy the Green Ranger will be making appearances.

Here are the stars out of costume (with subtler colour-coordinated clothing than the originals) and below that are the team from the 1990s series.

So what do we prefer? The original spandex-tastic brightness or the robotic suits of armour that look like they’ve been designed by Tony Stark? They certainly are a departure from the classic look, though the alien-ness of them does fit in with the Rangers’ intergalactic backstory.

OK, so they’ve given their modern, high-tech take on the suits – but can they top the awesome theme tune from the original? Remind your ears of its cheesy brilliance here:
