Superman returns to the small screen in Supergirl‘s second season. See our first look at him here…
After 22 episodes of Superman in silhouette or flying around in the distance or, weirdest of all, in instant messenger form, the Man of Steel will finally debut on Supergirl in the first two episodes of its sophomore season.
The hero’s big boots will be filled by Teen Wolf‘s Tyler Hoechlin. Here he is in costume with his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist).
So, what do we think? I personally like it. As we could predict from Supergirl’s quite Man of Steel-y outfit, Hoechlin’s Superman looks to be taking inspiration from Henry Cavill‘s – most notably he’s also not wearing Supes’ iconic red underpants. I have to say I prefer it to Cavill‘s suit, though, as there is just a touch more colour to it. The S insignia seems a lot bolder and brighter, for one.
It’s just nice to have a Superman on TV actually wearing a costume, after ten years of Smallville and its ‘no tights, no flights’ rule.
