Wonder Woman: TV Pilot (2011)
Wonder Woman was all set to return to TV in 2011, when a pilot for a new series was developed. Future Agents of SHIELD star Adrianne Palicki was in the central role. The pilot took a lot of liberties with the source material – for instance, Diana was a successful businesswoman and the head of Themyscira Industries. Fan reaction was extremely negative (particularly towards the costume) and a full series never materialized.
Amazon (2010s)
After the success of Arrow, another attempt was made to launch a Wonder Woman TV show, announced in 2012 and set for release in 2014. Called Amazon, it would have detailed the character’s origin story. Scottish actress Amy Manson (Merida in Once Upon a Time) was thought to be in the running to play Diana. Eventually, the series was passed over in favour of The Flash. There are currently no plans to revitalize the project.
Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013)
Wonder Woman has appeared in many video games over the years. Her most recent and successful appearance came in Injustice: Gods Among Us, a punch-em-up with a story mode set in a universe where Superman has gone rogue – and is in a relationship with Wonder Woman . The more armour-like outfit Diana wears in the game would go on to inspire the look Gal Gadot wears in the movies.
