5. Genevieve Dieudonne, Anno Dracula

Anyone out there read the Anno Dracula books? Well, you should. In an alternative history, Dracula is king of the British empire. Only his nemesis Genevieve can stop him.
4. Mitchell, Being Human

John Mitchell might look like the typical dreamboat vampire but he goes to some dark places in BH. Played by Aidan Turner, Mitchell left the show after series three to be replaced by…
3. Hal Yorke, Being Human

Once one of the meanest vamps around, Hal now suffers from OCD as a means to keep his blood lust in check. A great character, he’s capable of being both goofy and pretty terrifying.
2. Count Orlok, Nosferatu

Classic silent film Nosferatu is infamously a copyright-violating adaptation of Dracula. Yet it has to be said that the demonic-looking Count Orlok is a far creepier creation.
1. Every Vampire in Buffy the Vampire Slayer

We could literally fill this list with vampires from Buffy – just about all the recurring vamps on the show are tremendous characters. Be they killers, lovers, poets, good guys, bad guys or somewhere in between.

Alucard all the way!!

Definitely approve of the inclusion of Barnabas Collins, his introduction arc is my favorite part of the original Dark Shadows.

Thanks. Barnabus is often underrated in the long history of vampires. Have you seen the Johnny Depp version? What did you think of that?

I have seen parts of it and that is what inspired me to watch the original series it came. I don’t feel Johnny Depp was playing Barnabas Collins as much as he was parodying vampires in general while using the name Barnabas Collins. There is only one Barnabas Collins and that is Jonathan Frid who despite the campy setup (especially in the later stories) manages to be imposing as well as relatable.

Very true. I have seen it and I can’t say you’re missing much. It doesn’t replicate the tone of the show in any way. Jonathan Frid is terrific in that role for sure.
Do you fancy doing a Dark Shadows post at some point?

It might be something to try, but to be honest I have only been able to watch bits and pieces. They used to have the Dark Shadows on Netflix awhile back but they took it off, but I have managed to find some episodes through web. Although I do know they made a movie 1970 based on the Barnabas Collins intro arc from the show, just more streamlined.

Ah ok then. Yeah, that could be worth a watch.

I see The House of Dark Shadows (1970) is available to rent on Amazon, so I could watch it and then do a review of it. Also the Barnabas Collins intro arc of the show is available on Amazon too so I could get and rematch that again.

If you fancy doing that then, yeah that would be great.

This might be way in the future though since there are so many other projects to do in the coming months, like figuring out what to do for Christmas.
