Black Panther became a cultural phenomenon earlier this year – and it thoroughly deserved it. An awesome blend of Iron Man, The Lion King and James Bond, it’s fast, thrilling and actually has some important things to say as well. A film full of scene-stealing characters.
Sure, this is more Avengers 3 than Cap 3 but you can’t deny that Civil War is a dream of a film for fans. The central conflict is well-handled and you’d be perfectly valid to side with either Steve or Tony. Also, new additions Spider-Man and Black Panther totally steal the show.
Guardians Vol. 2 is a bit of a marmite movie, but I happen to love it. The plot may take a backseat, but that’s only because of the fantastic character work which fleshes out the loveable band of misfits even more, as well as improving on supporting characters (e.g. Nebula, Yondu).
4. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
I don’t care conventional wisdom says – The First Avenger is the best Captain America film. It’s a wonderful homage to wartime movie serials and it really captures that old-fashioned action/adventure charm. Peggy Carter is still the greatest leading lady the MCU’s ever had.
