Reviewing Smallville (Season Four)

7. Jinx

Mikhail Mxyzptlk, a Luthorcorp exchange student with the power to control the odds, causes havoc in a fun Smallville take on the classic Superman villain. Plus, Lex’s true motives come out. 8.5/10

8. Spell

Lana, Lois and Chloe are possessed by witches’ ghosts – oh well, at least Clark has Dean Winchester around to help him out. An extremely goofy episode but quite fun. 7.5/10

9. Bound

Lex is framed for murder- or is this the start of his descent into darkness? Plus, has Lionel really turned over a new leaf? Interesting questions lift up a rather humdrum plot. 7.5/10

10. Scare

A Luthorcorp compound becomes airborne and makes Smallville’s citizens relive their darkest nightmares. The themes of Clark wanting to tell someone his secret lead nicely into the next ep. 8.5/10

11. Unsafe

Teleporter and ex-bunny boiler Alicia Baker (AKA the best meteor freak ever) returns and Clark thinks he’s found the one for him. Surprisingly great for A Very Special Episode. 9/10

12. Pariah

Everyone suspects Alicia of reverting to her mad ways when Lana is attacked. A tragic closer to the Alicia trilogy and a very mature, game-changing episode. Villain’s rubbish though. 8.5/10
