5 Reasons To Be Excited For Supergirl Season Two

Supergirl soars back to TV tonight for its awesome-sounding second season. Here’s why you should be excited…

5. Wonder Woman Is In It

Ok, slightly misleading headline there. The character of Wonder Woman is not appearing in Supergirl‘s second season (well, that we know of) but the most famous person to wield the lasso of truth is. Superhero TV legend Lynda Carter is joining of the show – and she’s playing the President of the United States!

4. It’s On The CW

One of the two big hooks for this season of Supergirl (we’ll get to the other in a moment) is that it has moved from original network CBS to The CW, the home of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. As such, it will mean there will be lots more crossovers! More than that, though, it is also a much more suitable home for the show.

3. Loads More Mythos Characters

Season one wasn’t too shabby in raiding the DC toybox – what with Martian Manhunter on board – but season two will go above and beyond in this area. Speaking of J’onn J’onzz, Miss Martian will turn up as will Mon-El, a Superman-like alien refugee. On the human side, there is detective Maggie Sawyer and Merlin‘s Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, Lex’s little sister.

2. Musical Crossovers

As mentioned above and on our 5 Reasons To Be Excited For The Flash Season Three list, Supergirl will crossover with the three other Arrowverse shows this season. However, there will also be a two-part crossover with The Flash that will form a special musical event! What’s more, there is talk that Joss Whedon will direct it (but take that with a pinch of salt).

1. Superman Lives!

And here we go. The thing that is getting every DC fan excited is that Superman himself will appear in season two, at the very least in the first two episodes. As played by Tyler Hoechlin, he will be the perfect antidote to the grimdark Man of Steel of the movies and looks set to throwback to Christopher Reeve and the popular image of the hero. We can’t wait to see Kara and her cousin team up!
