Released: February 3rd

Synopsis: A sci-fi romance for the young adult crowd. Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game, Miss Peregrine) plays a boy who lives on Mars but starts a long-distant relationship with an Earth girl.


Ghost in the Shell

Released: March 31st

Synopsis: Scarlett Johanson stars in this Hollywood remake of the cyberpunk anime. She plays the Major, a cyborg special agent who thwarts cyber-terrorists in future Tokyo.


The Circle

Released: April 28th

Synopsis: A sci-fi thriller starring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, Karen Gillan and John Boyega. Watson stars as a new recruit to a hi-tech company that gradually becomes more sinister.


Alien: Covenant

Released: May 19th

Synopsis: The Alien franchise will hopefully get back on track with this semi-sequel to Prometheus. Cast includes Katherine Waterston, James Franco and Michael Fassbender.


Transformers: The Last Knight

Released: June 23rd

Synopsis: The fifth – fifth! – Transformers movie sees Mark Wahlberg and the Autobots once again protect the Earth from Decepticons. This time, though, Optimus Prime turns evil!


War of the Planet of the Apes

Released: July 14th

Synopsis: The third installment in the surprisingly strong Planet of the Apes prequel series. Expect more great MoCap acting from Andy Serkis as anti-hero ape leader Caeser.


Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Released: July 21st

Synopsis: A French-American sci-fi adventure from Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Lucy). It stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevigne as a pair of odd couple space agents.


The Dark Tower


Released: July 28th

Synopsis: Stephen King’s magnum opus, fantasy western series The Dark Tower, is adapted to the screen. Idris Elba stars as the Gunslinger, with Matthew McConaughy as the Man in Black.


Blade Runner 2046

Released: October 6th

Synopsis: 25 years after the sci-fi classic arrived in cinemas, Blade Runner gets an unexpected sequel. Harrison Ford reprises his role as Rick Deckard with Ryan Gosling as a rookie Runner.


God Particle (AKA Cloverfield 3)


Released: October 27th

Synopsis: The third installment in the Cloverfield anthology film series (from producer J.J. Abrams) will be set in space. It stars Daniel Bruhl, Elizabeth Debicki and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.


Star Wars VIII


Released: December 15th

Synopsis: The Star Wars saga continues with the as-yet-untitled Episode VIII. Who knows what will happen next in a galaxy far far away? Apart from that Luke is back, of course.
