Well, here’s a turn-up! Popular actor Tom Hardy has signed up to play fan favourite Eddie Brock in Sony’s Venom solo movie.
Though the character is usually portrayed as Spider-Man’s nemesis, Venom will not feature the webhead and will be separate from the Tom Holland-starring Spider-Man movies from Marvel.
It will be directed by Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer from a script by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower). It is due to swing into cinemas on October 5th 2018.
Fans had previously been lukewarm about the idea of a Venom movie without Spider-Man, but the inclusion of an actor of Hardy’s calibre in the lead should get people excited about the project again.
