NEWS FLASH: Casting Shortlist Possibly Revealed For Batgirl Movie

A new report has possibly revealed DC’s shortlist of actresses in the running to play Barbara Gordon in Joss Whedon’s upcoming Batgirl movie…

Elle Fanning

Age: 19

Most Known ForSuper 8, Maleficent, The Neon Demon, Live By Night

The former child actress has successfully transferred into more mature movies over the past couple of years. She’s now a well-known name so could be a good choice for Batgirl.

Olivia Cooke

Age: 23

Most Known For: Bates Motel, Ouija, Ready Player One

British actress Cooke’s star is definitely on the rise. She has made a name as a scream queen in a bunch of horror movies but is starting to gain mainstream movie roles as well – e.g. Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Ready Player One.

Bella Thorne

Age: 19

Most Known For: Shake It Up

The actress and singer has appeared in a bunch of movies, but she is probably still most recognisable from her role on Disney series Shake it Up. If her former co-star Zendaya can get into superhero movies with Spider-Man: Homecoming, why couldn’t Thorne play Batgirl?

Katherine Langford

Age: 21

Most Known For: 13 Reasons Why

Langford has just broken into the limelight thanks to her role in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, so it is possible that she could be about to jump straight into a Hollywood blockbuster. Joss Whedon has stated in the past that he would prefer to cast a largely unknown actress, as well.

Margaret Qualley

Age: 22

Most Known ForThe Leftovers, Death Note

Another actress who could potentially make the leap from TV to movies is Margaret Qualley, a series regular on The Leftovers and on Netflix’s upcoming anime adaptation Death Note. She did play a role in The Nice Guys so she has begun to break into Hollywood.
