The sequel to last year’s Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them will be titled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald…
Here’s the official logo:
Harry Potter fans will note that this is the first movie in the Wizarding World franchise not to follow the “Something and the Something” titling convention.
Along with the title reveal, a cast photo featuring the main players of the sequel has been dropped. Notably, it gives us our first look at Jude Law’s young Albus Dumbledore.
From left to right we have: Dumbledore (Law), Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller), Maledictus (Claudia Kim), Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz), Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner), Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogel), Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol) and, last but not least, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).
From the photo, we can gather that there is a lot of romance flying around in the sequel. For one, fan favourite couple Queenie and Jacob seem to be an item. And even the deeply religious Credence is getting close with Maledictus, a circus performer. There’s sure to be heartbreak for Newt as his brother Theseus is engaged to Leta, his childhood sweetheart. Meanwhile, Dumbledore and Grindelwald occupy different ends of the image – reminding us that the two old friends are deep-seated enemies at this point.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald magics its way into cinemas on November 16th 2018.
