A former prostitute and underground fight club member, Mia Dearden – nicknamed “Speedy” – was trained by Oliver Queen in martial arts and archery, allowing her to leave behind her life on the streets and become his protege. Mia was a surprisingly faithful adaptation of a fairly gritty character.

 

Zatanna

Played by: Serinda Swann

Appearances: 2 episodes (S8-9)

The daughter of stage magician/sorcerer John Zatara, Zatanna Zatara inherited her father’s affinity for magic – however, she was much more reckless with it. She later grew (slightly) more responsible, though, and was inducted into the Justice League. Smallville perfectly replicated the character’s look and backwards-speaking spells from the comics.

 

Stargirl

Though not an original JSA member, Courtney Whitmore AKA Stargirl was trained by the Star-Spangled Kid/Sylvester Pemberton as his protege. After his death, she inherited his immensely powerful Cosmic Staff. Hawkman

Hawkman is a 3000-year-old immortal who is cursed to be reincarnated forever – alongside his eternal love Shayera (Hawkgirl). In modern times, he is Carter Hall, archaeologist and leader of the JSA. He later joins with the Justice League until he dies battling Deathstroke. His death is one of a series of events that inspires Clark to step up and become Superman.
